GMI’s Spiritualities

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I am returning back from Istanbul after attending the CIS conference. There were about 450 pastors and local leaders from all over CIS including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and more. Also, we had about fifty team members serving the conference from KM, EM and Korea. God poured out His Spirit upon our gatherings through the praises, the preachings, and the prayers. All of us felt the fire of the Holy Spirit and saw how God was pleased with our gatherings. It was wonderful to see some of these leaders that I haven’t seen for years. I was personally acquainted with them when I taught at Grace Moscow Seminary about ten years ago, some through Sunday preachings, and serving at Tres Dias in different countries of CIS. I was also glad to see many of our first generation missionaries who served CIS countries for almost thirty years. It was also awesome to see our one year termers in Turkey and serve together with some of them.

As Mrs. Kim shared her testimony during the conference, she said that both belated Pastor Kim and herself consider the leaders from CIS as their first love of missions. As communism crumbled down in the Soviet Union during early 1990, the great door of evangelism opened up and Pastor Kim and our church were able to go and preach the gospel to the Russian speaking people in CIS. As the result, literally hundreds of thousands of people received Jesus as their Savior and the churches began to multiply. In 1994 at the infamous Moscow Festival where I personally was able to serve as a team member, 13,000 new believers came and celebrated together in the fire of the Holy Spirit. Since then, about two thousand churches have been planted all over CIS. Now the local pastors and the leaders are continuing the works of the gospel. Due to the Russia and Ukraine war in the past few years, the leaders and the churches in CIS have been feeling very down and discouraged, but through this conference, they were so comforted and recharged spiritually. Praise God.

I had an opportunity to share a message at the conference. I encouraged them to restore the spiritual DNA of Pastor Kim, GMI, and intentionally transfer this DNA to the next generation wherever we are. To condense down some of the characteristics of our spiritual DNA, GMI has three distinctive biblical spiritualities. First, GMI has a praying spirituality. When Pastor Kim planted our church, he prayed fervently for five to six hours each day. His fervent prayer life naturally permeated into the lives of the congregation. Starting with the early morning prayer, our church began to be known for fervent prayer life. No wonder the three infamous slogans of the missions in our church are "Missions is Prayer, Missions is Warfare, and Missions is Martyrdom." Secondly, GMI has a giving spirituality. Pastor Kim truly believed that love was a waste or is extravagant. He himself sold his business and house, fully surrendering his life for the sake of the gospel. As Christ’s life was wasted, he also wanted to waste his life for Him. He showed Christ’s love to others and the nations by giving. Through Tres Dias and in many different aspects, GMI has been generously giving their time and finances to see more people saved and to help others to tangibly experience Christ’s extravagant and unconditional love. Thirdly, GMI has a going spirituality. Jesus commanded us above all to go to the nations to make His disciples. When we go, things happen, but when we don’t go, nothing happens. Our first generation missionaries received callings to go to the nations and they simply obeyed and went. Even though Pastor Kim was the senior pastor of a rather large church full of non-stop spiritual activities, he always went to the nations to preach the gospel, make disciples, and plant the churches. He wanted to see as many church members as possible to be sent out as missionaries. Now, as the lead pastor of the English Ministry, I sincerely desire and pray that our congregation will also receive the spiritualities of praying, giving and going. Love you all.

ONE-YEAR TERM MISSIONS SUMMER: If you want to dedicate one year or more to serving the Lord in the mission field, we are currently putting together a new team that will be sent out on June 24, 2024. Join us as we share the good news of Jesus and plant churches in his name! Last day to join will be April 28, 2024. ALL CHURCH REVIVAL: Join us for a weekend of revival from May 3-5, 2024 (Friday through Sunday) with our guest speaker, Pastor Alec Rowlands, who is the Senior Pastor of Westgate Chapel in Edmonds, Washington. He is also the President and Founder of Church Awakening, a ministry to pastors on prayer and revival.

EGTD #19: EGTD #19 will be taking place Sunday through Wednesday, May 26-29, 2024, so mark your calendar! Tres Dias is a tangible experience of the love of Jesus and it is unlike any retreat or conference you’ve ever attended before. Please be in prayer for Spiritual Director Pastor Shine, Rector Erin Song, and all the future candidates and team members. Team member meetings will begin March 24 at 5PM. Candidate fees will be $400 until May 12, with a $50 late fee after the date. Team Member fees will be $250, with a $30 late fee afterwards.

ALIYAH PRAYER WATCH: We have resumed our Aliyah Prayer Watch online prayer which take place Monday through Friday at 10:00AM to declare God’s promises in the Bible for the return of His chosen people to the land that was promised to them. Contact D. Ann Kim (annkim@gmiem.org) to join!

SHILOH takes place every Thursday night at 7:30PM in the Miracle Center Sanctuary and live on our YouTube channel. We continuing a series on the book of 1 Corinthians so join us this Thursday and every Thursday night for these nights of prayer, testimony, and impartation!

EARLY MORNING PRAYER: Our EM early morning prayer is ongoing Monday thru Friday at 6:00AM, in person in the Miracle Center and live on our YouTube channel. On Saturdays our church has a special united family morning worship service including the KM, EM and children at 6:00AM in the Vision Center. Join us as we partner with the next generation unto the ends of the earth!

NIGHT PRAYER: The Miracle Center sanctuary is open for a time of individual prayer from 8PM to 10PM every night from Saturday through Wednesday. Let’s continually seek after the Lord until tsunami-like revival comes!

GUIDELINES FOR ONLINE WORSHIP

It can be difficult to maintain a proper heart posture for worship while surrounded with the comforts and distractions of home. Here are some guidelines to help you keep the proper attitude as we worship God together:

• Please prayerfully join the worship

• Have a right heart and body posture as you worship Him (ie. wash up, get dressed, sit up and don’t lie down)

• Remove any distractions

• Find a place where you and/or your entire family can focus on worshiping God

• Use the largest screen available to worship

• Be ready to give offering online

• During the message please refrain from interacting each other in chat to focus more on the Word.
